IMPACT Soccer Club's '09 Girls Black team had a fantastic start to their spring season. The team participated in the Santa Cruz Breakers Cup over the weekend and brought home the championship trophy! The team improved during the weekend in all aspects of the game, especially the he goalkeeping (Kendall Little) and defensively (Riley Fenyes and Abby Saffold) as the girls allowed three goals in the first two games and delivered two shutouts in the third and championship game. Passing was also a win as the team created scoring chances which led to goals. Coach Sal Vela said of the win," Nothing is more rewarding than watching our teams develop and seeing what we work on during practice come to life on the field."
One of the most impressive things to note about the IMPACT '09 Girls Black team win is the make-up of this team. Five of the girls are 2009s, four are 2010s, and one is a 2011 competing against pure 2009 teams in this tournament.
